The Ballad Of Bonnie And Clyde
Last summer, we had tickets to see the musical “Bonnie and Clyde” during its U.K. tour. But, with only a week to go, we were phoned by the theatre to say the tour had been cancelled at very short notice. Reading between the lines, I think overall ticket sales had been poorer than expected.
So we were very pleased to see that a live performance from its West End run was being screened at our local cinema last night - part of the “Stage on Screen” series. And it was most enjoyable. A fairly accurate telling of the story with some cracking musical numbers thrown in. If they ever do resurrect it, I would like to see it properly in a theatre.
I return to the world of amateur theatre tonight with the first rehearsal for the Agatha Christie radio plays we are doing at Staveley. We only have six weeks to get it polished, but at least we don’t have to learn the lines, given the format of the show. But I do need to know when to say my lines so I have spent a couple of hours highlighting them.
One character I’m playing has dialogue over ten continuous pages, so I’m definitely glad I don’t have to learn it by heart!
