The 3 lions
So many pictures today.
My early walk included some swan spotting. During a weekend walk with Angel we'd encountered a swan with a fishing hook in its beak. Angel was keen to remove it. As I didn't want to help with that job she enlisted some help from a local swan rescue volunteer. They were due to arrive at around 6.45 so I located the swan and reported it to them before heading home. The mission continues as the volunteer was not able to get to the location due to the distance and terrain.
Shortening my working week with a mid week garden visit with the 2 M's is always a great idea. There was a work related interruption during the day with the arrival of a message from my colleague and some frustrating comms to my team but the day was mostly about a visit to Anglesey Abbey and gardens with a bonus watermill thrown in.
Anglesey Abbey is believed to have been founded by Henry I in 1135 as the Hospital of St Mary.
It was a priory for a while and then owned by a succession of wealthy individuals until 1966 when it's management was taken over by the national trust.
We enjoyed the impressive gardens; some magnificent foliage; long avenues of trees, an area full of silver birch, formal beds, flowing water, bridges, sculpture, ornate fencing, lawns and open space.
We enjoyed the house; a huge collection of art, some ornate bed heads, unusual toilets, a glitzy pineapple clock, 1960 styled kitchens just some of the highlights.
We enjoyed the on site cafe. Obviously.
The fail came later when we attempted to find somewhere serving food before heading home and our day ended abruptly when we gave up.
Great company and a dose of silliness thrown in with the M's and I did enjoy my pie and mash at home although there I found a stark contrast in levels of conversation.
