Life's Little Moments

Luscious

I recently bought two little begonias for the deck - I love the color, not quite red and not quite orange.   Hard to photograph and I confess I didn't spend all that much time trying.  I will, at some point, do a focus stack of this flower as I think it would look very nice.  Just didn't have the ambition today.

The swallows were back this morning swooping around the lower lawn where the bluebirds have quickly built their nest.  They spent some time at a second box I've put up in the same area but it has already been claimed by the house wren and I'm not sure they want it enough to battle him for it.
Meanwhile, I also saw two blue jays gathering nesting material and flying up into a tree with it.  Very exciting as I've never been able to locate a blue jay nest - they are notoriously secretive about their nests.  I will watch from a distance and look forward to to fledgling jays sometime this summer.

I'm going to get my original tattoo "refreshed" this evening.  It is nearly 30 years old and has faded so I will have "my guy" freshen up the lines and colors.  Hopefully tomorrow I can show a before and after image tomorrow.

I also went to the local farm and bought some hanging baskets of fuchsias as well as some herbs and a few annuals to pot.  They haven't gotten in their echinecea but expect it to come any day now - I want to be sure to grab a couple of pots so I can add more of it to my garden.  It's a favorite with all the pollinators and the birds love the seeds in the fall.  Hands in the dirt today - I'm happy.

xoxo
