Tiny Tuesday - ‘Something Pink’
I called for Mary at 10am and we drove over to visit Hazel at her care home. It will be Hazel’s 96th birthday on Friday, so we both had cards and small gifts for her to open on the day. The chef at the home always asks the residents what kind of birthday cake they’d like him to make, and when I checked with Hazel she said she liked all cake! I know they will make it a nice day for her on Friday. Her memory is very slowly fading now, but she does still know Mary and me with no difficulty and we are able to hold a pretty good conversation with her. She always has a different novel on the go whenever we see her, but doesn’t usually remember what the previous one was about. She was smiling when we left, and we also spread a bit of cheer to some of the other residents while we were there who we’re getting to know, as well as the lovely carers.
Many thanks to Pinkhairedlady for hosting the Tiny Tuesday challenge in May, with this week’s theme of ‘Something Pink’ - a delicate little shell displayed on a fine silk Jaeger scarf which belonged to my dear late Mum.
