Oot n Aboot
(Not easy writing in Doric, the spell checker goes mad!). Our day started with heavy clouds. First stop St. Machar’s High Kirk. The original church on this site was built in 600. This is the “new” church, built in 1520. It is rumored a part of William Wallace the great hero of Scotland is buried in the walls. (At his execution his body was quarter and dispersed so there could be no shrine built to him). Next, it was on to the Aberdeen Art Gallery which has just undergone extensive renovation. It is an amazing collection but I went mainly to see the work of James McBey, painter, printmaker and world traveler. Fascinating exhibit. When I got to the Silver Darling for lunch with my blip pals (and Henry of course) the sun was shining and it was a gorgeous afternoon. I had one last stop at the Gordon Highlander Museum to learn about their long and illustrious history. Phew, now it is time for a glass of wine and packing up. I move on to Dundee tomorrow.
