Inquisitive cows
I lit a small pile burn this morning in the northeast corner of the farm - at the time I could see the cows in the distance on the western boundary over a kilometre away. Within 20 minutes, they had all arrived and were checking out the fire (and more closely than the blip would suggest).
Cattle may appear to be half asleep and unconcerned about anything around them but they actually hate to think they might be missing out on the action. At one stage one of the calves learned a good life lesson - tonight I think it may be nursing some blisters on the nose!
