Bug hunting
A cold cycle to work this morning. I had thought that my new jacket might be too warm for this time of year but it was very good this morning.
Lots of online meetings in the morning. One was a training session that I could have delivered much better myself.
Got out for a walk at lunchtime and pursued some insects to add to the bioblitz challenge. I found a damselfly, bees, crane flies, hover flies, a pretty spider and some more plants. It made lunchtime fun.
Went to a new members evening for the local bat group. There were a few faces I recognised this time. The meeting ended with a short bat walk down to the campus lake. We saw pipistrelles, soprano pipistrelles and Daubenton bats. There was some very fancy kit on display including an infra red scope that showed bats whizzing past us and flying low over the lake that were invisible to the human eye.
I'm hoping to get more involved in the education side of the bat group.
