Amsterdam canal

Today we cycled the 54 km from Hoorn to Amsterdam. As with yesterday we were along the sea most of the way, and as with yesterday we didn't see it all, as there was a sea wall in the way. In the middle there were a couple of towns, but they were a nightmare to navigate with a zillion tourists blocking the streets and ambling about like a flock of sheep. The towns weren't big our busy otherwise, so once we'd cleared our hundred metres of tourists we were back to empty roads.

We were early at the hotel, but the room was available so we were able to empty our panniers into the room and cycle back into town to drop the bikes off at the hire centre and pick our rucksacks up. We then wandered about town looking at things slightly further out from the tourist hot spots and had a pretty nice afternoon.

Today's back blip is yet another canal, and this one is from some random spot in Amsterdam - there are so many canals to choose from that I don't know where exactly I took the picture!

We finally to the ferry back to the north of Amsterdam and bought our last few things in a supermarket before crashing out in our hotel for the night. Tomorrow is the train journey home.
