Old curtains, new place
Our route home to Edinburgh from Haltwhistle today included three stops. The first was my niece Ailish and her boyfriend Danny's flat in Gosforth. Here we dropped off the white Le Creuset pans that used to belong to Mummy hazelh. Ailish was in London today so we didn't see her, but Danny kindly took a break from his work to serve us tea/coffee and chat with us for 20 minutes or so.
When visiting the homes of my grown-up nephew and niece, I like to inspect the bits and pieces that they have inherited from other members of the family. These curtains in Danny's study, for example, are from my bedroom at my parents' house. I chose this Laura Ashley 'dandelion' fabric (and the matching wallpaper) in 1986 or 1987. I have a feeling that I may have made the curtains (I definitely helped Mr hazelh with the wallpaper hanging).
Our next stop on the journey home was the auctioneer in to collect a picture and some documentation. This marks the end of the process that we started on 20th February 2023. We broke the journey a third time in Dunbar to buy petrol and essential groceries.
Back at the house we first unpacked. Then, while Mr hazelh mended the tap that broke last week using parts that arrived while we were away and took the car to get a new wheel (we had a slow puncture when away), I worked on the proof of my article for The conversation, and tinkered with Wikipedia. I also looked at my diary for the next few days. How come I'm so busy even though I no longer have a job?!!!
Exercise today: none(!)
