View from the kitchen window

We’re in and comfortable. And it’s brilliant, made all the more special by glorious if chilly weather. Hardly a cloud in the sky.

We arrived at the flat in Armaside House just after 12.00 to be met by the landlady and her husband who showed us around again - we only saw the flat for about 15 minutes in March. We are really overjoyed by the place. Newly done out in all respects.

After unpacking and carrying everything upstairs we set off for Workington to collect a fridge and table as well as stuff from Dunelm. Much assembling of flat pack furniture then ensued putting together the said table, setting out the main room, putting stuff in the kitchen cupboards.

We popped out again this time to Cockermouth for some food shopping only to find Sainsbury’s derelict. The website said it was open. Aldi rose to the challenge. After dinner more assembling of furniture. Now we have a mountain of cardboard and packaging materials to dispose of.

The mobile signal seems good just here so we may invest in a Mi-Fi system. We are trying to do without a TV as we’d have to buy another licence here! We can watch TV on a laptop as long as it is working from batteries and no plugged in. What’s that all about?

It’s been such a momentous day, we’re elated and tired. We will be going to Kent over the summer as there are houses to sell and packing to be done, not to mention turns on the railway, birthdays and doctors/hospital appointments.

The extra is the view from the Cockermouth road as we approach the turning to Armaside House. Isn’t it just stunning? Someone will tell me the names of the fells.

So far it has exceeded our expectations by a county mile. Thank you for all your good wishes too.
