The Dardanelles

I've blipped this old hunk of iron before. This time it can be an entry for Vintage mono Monday. Hope an old steam engine that used to haul coal counts as vintage.
It is in Polkemmet country park and is called the Dardanelles as was the colliery there which started and was named after the Dardanelles campaign during the first world war.

By coincidence, last week I was looking at the war memorial in town. It had a Lieutenant Sir Gawain Baillie, 5th Baronet Baillie of Polkemmet listed. He joined The Scots Greys regiment, went to France and was killed age 21. His family owned Polkemmet house & land. Digging more down the wiki rabbit hole the 7th baronet, also Sir Gawain was an amateur racing driver and wait for it, after his death it was discovered that he had amassed in secret one of the greatest collections of stamps of the former British empire! Baronets eh! The one I knew in my youth became a porn baron. Anyway, I digress. You can look up the 6th baronet yourself.
