Walking, Mum's and VE Day Celebrations
Walked to Mum's today. I should have put a warmer jacket or coat on as it was cold and I hadn't realised it was that cold! |I coughed most of the way since the cold air sets off the asthma and a couple of puffs on the inhaler helped only minimally.
Had watched (on TV) some of the VE Day Celebrations with Terry before I went and I watched some more with Mum. As usual, it was all really well done. We sang along to the songs the band was playing the music for. Things like "Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye" and then they played a lot of the cockney songs which we also joined in with. I don't ever remember "Knees up Mother Brown" being as fast as they played it! Anyway, it was nice to have a singalong with Mum who is 96 and remembers VE Day.
Went to get the bus home which was due at 12:20 and I got to the bus stop at 12:15. A 12:20 the app said it would now be arriving at 12:24. I checked on the map and the bus was showing but when I checked again a couple of minutes later it had disappeared. At 12:29 I spoke to Terry who said he'd pick me up since it didn't look like it was coming as the app was blank till 12:54 and it was too cold to stand there so long. I set off to walk the short distance to our meeting point. I was waiting and the bus passed me at 12:35. How people manage for work and appointments if they have to rely on the 89 bus I will never know.
Photo is one of our deciduous azaleas. Or is it a rhododendron? Not sure! I think if it has 5 stamens it's an azalea and more than 10 make it a rhododendron but this seems to have a number in between.
