Chatelherault

We were due to head home at lunchtime but, with time to pass, J suggested we drive to Chatelherault and have a walk in the estate.  Great idea J!  It was a place we often walked when J and P lived close by in Ferniegair, but we haven't visited since their move further south, a good way to spend an hour or so before heading to the station.

The first part of our journey to Carlisle was in a rail replacement bus which arrived promptly.  We said our goodbyes to J, stowed our rucksacks underneath and took our seats.  The only stop en route was in Lockerbie and we arrived on time in Carlisle with an hour to spare in which to buy sandwiches and tea.

The second half of our journey passed similarly without incident as we passed by the Northern Pennines and through stunning views in the sunshine.  The volunteer tea trolley came onboard and we enjoyed the novelty of Lakes ice cream tubs, a new addition to the service.

Back in Bingley and out of the station into a taxi and home to cuppas and egg and chips.  A grand weekend.
