A day of firsts...
Today for the first time ever I visited The Chelsea Physic Garden, a lovely and unexpected green space by the Thames in the heart of London. I visited the garden in the company of the botanically very knowledgeable Mariska, which also meant that today was the first time I'd met an overseas blipper in person.
Sadly I'd left my photographic skills at home for some reason - but that gives me a great excuse for a return visit! The main shot is of part of the garden containing plants with medicinal properties. The first extra is the statue of Sir Hans Sloane, who was responsible for the garden being gifted in perpetuity to the guild of apothecaries. The final extra is of the RAF Red Arrows display team which flashed across the skyline as part of the VE Day celebrations which were taking place nearby
