Snowballs
These are two of the flowers on my snowball tree which is now covered in flowers. I spent a few hours in the garden, digging out the roots from my laurel, digging and clearing that tiny area and moving a couple of large pots there. I did the work before and after the coverage of VE Day 80. Whilst I enjoyed the coverage, I felt something was missing / different and then I realised it was because this was the first big commemoration of this type without our late Queen. It was nice to see the Royal Family sitting alongside the veterans and chatting to them.
All but one (or two) of the nine eggs have now hatched - difficult to see as the hatchlings are on top. I've just seen something I've not seen before, the female was sitting on the nest and the male came in with food but she refused to move, just leant to one side and fluttered her wing. He persisted and fed a hatchling under her wing, then flew off, she moved and inspected the hatchlings for anything amiss.
