Magic kingdom - Snow White's Castle
First day at Disney and all the predictions are coming true. Major faff this morning and decisions being made far too late. As a result it was past noon before we managed to get everyone ready and on a buss to Magic Kingdom.
Busses are really easy and it didn't take as long as I thought to get there.
Main Street with its view of the castle is fantastic. J managed to put her hands over Gabriella’s eye before she saw the castle and put her directly in front of it before letting her see. Look on her face was fantastic.
Had a walk around and went into the Haunted mansion. Great fun. From there it was a couple of goes on the Barnstormer roller coaster with the kids and a couple of trips on Flying Dumbo.
Time for a huge ice cream snack before going on Under the sea - Journey of the little mermaid. Gabriella had a great time on the ride.
They are expanding Fantasyland still further with a new Snow White and the 7 dwarfs’ ride being built. This is Snow Whites castle, which is away in the distance. Even thought is a long way off to see clearly the level of detail they are putting into it is astonishing.
The Gatton family then went home while the adults went and had tea at the Columbia Harbour house.
Next stop was a Disney classic it’s a small world. I can see how this must have been a great ride when it first opened but the song is too annoying. From there it was onto the Peter Pan ride. A great ride that fly’s you over London and off to Never Neverland. Kids would have liked it.
By the time we had got out of Peter Pan it was just enough time to find out that Big Thunder Mountain was down before getting a spot for the electric evening parade. Great show with all the Disney characters in it. While we were waiting I snuck off to have a go on the shooting arcade. Great fun for a dollar.
After the parade and the fireworks J's parents went back while we went over to Future world to try and get on Space Mountain. There was such a long queue we went into another Disney classic. The Carousel of Progress. Again must have been a great ride back in the day and another annoying song that sticks in your head.
From there it was back home and bed. Great first day in Disney.
