MONO MONDAY - VINTAGE
“Vintage : The time that something of quality was produced; denoting something from the past of high quality, especially something representing the best of its kind”
Mr. HCB has been out in the garden doing various jobs since 7.30 this morning, and when I looked out at about midday, he was down on his hands and knees getting the weeds out between the stones on the patio and on the gravel. He has done sterling work.
I went out to sweep some of the stones off the path and then decided to weed along the edge of the grass, but had to be careful I didn’t overdo it - and I really enjoyed being out there - doing the work and chatting to Mr. HCB.
I suddenly thought that I hadn’t looked at the theme for Mono Monday, so came indoors to find out. I could have sung the song “Take That Look Off Your Face” when I mentioned quite casually to Mr. HCB that the theme was “Vintage”. I’m sure you can imagine his comments. However, DonMac21 who is hosting the May MM challenge says: “Vintage. Interpreted any which way you like.”
Surely someone born in the early 1940s, working in a garden we have loved since 1982, sitting on old railway sleepers whilst working, and using garden tools that belonged to Mr. HCB’s parents, must definitely be “ON THEME”!
If not, then I’m obviously not reading it right!
Have a great day - sadly the sun has just disappeared, so it may not be a “reading in our vintage garden” sort of afternoon, but rather indoors. I daresay Mr. HCB may just have a little nap - added an extra at 2.31 p.m Bless him - he has worked so hard in the garden! M xx
P.S. Mr. HCB put his two contraptions up at the weekend, and is going to plant his runner beans straight into the ground this year.
