On This Day

Whimbrel

Had to pack up the holiday house this morning and say cheerio to our friends who're returning home via Glenelg. We set off for the ferry to Harris stopping at the St Kilda viewpoint. Just visible on the horizon were the stacks and cliffs of the abandoned isles. Saw several whimbrels which I've made my main. The birds here have been an absolute delight. The extra is one of the North Uist beaches - just to show how beautiful they are. There is no wind today and the sun is splitting the sky.

Now aboard the ferry and very much looking forward to Harris which I last visited 20 years ago. Then on to our destination for a couple of nights on the Isle of Lewis.

Many thanks for all your visits to my journal. I have very little time for blip just now.
