Wandered

through the splendor of the grounds of  Babelsberg castle. Curiously located in what was east Germany connected by bridge to another enclave of the former east Germany.  The stories and memorials dotted around of those who died trying to escape were poignant as always. Escapes were also possible for some. Berlin and Brandenburg is built on sand. One family was able to dig an escape tunnel using a child's spade and escaped to the west.
