4th of May
I spent most of the day with Sandie in the training hall.
On our way home, we took a walk through town. It was a sunny, albeit windy day, and Danish flags were flying everywhere in celebration of Liberation Day.
On May 4th, 1945, at 8:35 p.m., BBC’s Danish broadcaster Johannes Sørensen interrupted regular programming to deliver historic news to the Danish people: their five-year German occupation had come to an end.
“At this moment, it is being announced that Montgomery has stated that the German troops in the Netherlands, northwest Germany, and Denmark have surrendered. This is London. We repeat: Montgomery has just now announced that the German troops in the Netherlands, northwest Germany, and Denmark have surrendered.”

Happy Liberation Day, Denmark!
See you tomorrow,
