Ford Hill Tribute

Great day. It started with breakfast out with Helena and ended with a concert at the old museum. It was put on by Bellingham House Concerts and featured 13 pianists, all students or friends of Ford Hill, long time Bellingham piano teacher and professor at WWU. Side note. He and my wonderful college best friend were in grad school together in the 60s. The program was varied and the playing was great. The most unusual piece was “Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues” by Frederic Rzewski played by Jeffrey Gilliam. That’s him at the piano. The piece starts with the pianist singing the blues. Then he proceeds to the piano in what sounds a lot like you might imagine an industrial mill might sound like. Wild and amazing. The rest of the photos are of Ford and friends after the concert ended.
