A Rainforest in My Living Room

My roommate gave me this fern for my birthday last month. She knows me so well. I love it!

I'm still trying to figure out how to put a garden on my tiny balcony, so this will tide me over until I get some brilliant ideas. The majority of my hesitancy is that the balcony is shaded most of the day. Do you think I could still grow some veggies out there?

In the background, you can see our clock wall. The big one is set for Bangkok time. The two smaller clocks are set to our home-state time (Nevada and Texas). The states are just one hour apart, but it's still fun to have both. Now neither of us have any excuse for confusing the time and calling relatives at 4:00 in the morning. :)
