Tree swallows
The tree swallows had started to return to Miners Marsh the last time I was there. Many more were around today and they are claiming their nesting boxes. One of them posed on this cattail for several minutes, even as I edged closer.
A green heron has been there the past couple of days but he had not been seen this morning. Some of us did hear a barred owl but we could not see him. One of the locals thinks there is a nest in the area.
On the way to the valley I took a little detour off the highway. There is a woman who has a plant sale every year, she digs and divides things from her own garden, plus people will donate plants too. I had not noticed anyone mention the sale this year, but I decided to check to see if it was open. I was in luck, her sign was out. I filled up 2 trays, keeping in mind, the plants are in 4 inch pots. Rather than charge a set amount for the plants, she asks for a donation and all the money raised goes to a charity.
After Miners Marsh, it was time to stop at the garden centers and talk to the staff that I haven't seen all winter. I didn't quite fill the back of the truck with plants, it was about 3/4 full.
And I have another quote booked for tomorrow afternoon.
