Carol's ramblings

Day of travel, visits and monuments

Up early and on the M4 to Bristol, visiting our aunt.
A lovely visit, great to see her and catch up.  My cousin may not be over to the UK again, so a bit of an emotional goodbye for them both.

After a bite of lunch, travelled then to Stonehenge.  My cousin wanted to see the world’s most famous prehistoric monument, the only thing was the £38 to get in.  Hubby and I decided we couldn’t justify that cost so my cousin and husband purchased their tickets and we said we would wait for them to return (it’s 3:30 by this point).  We stopped for coffee and sat in the sun.  I needed to know what you got for the cost of entry so enquired - the counter lady replied:
coach travel to/from the stones (if wanted - it takes 30 mins to walk), entry into the exhibition, entry into the stone circle surrounding the stones.
We had been told that English Heritage members got in free (we are not members).  The counter lady then asked if we were National Trust members “yes” we were - we get in for free! (By this time 4:30pm).  We rushed on the next coach and met up with my cousin at the circle! What a palaver - but so glad we got in and to see them close up (taking umpteen photos).  The weather was glorious, although a bit blowy, but sun and blue sky.

Left at 6pm for the hours journey home.

A full day but great fun.
