Costa del Northampton

When I was little, dad drove our familyto Yarmouth for a summer beach holiday. At about 120 miles, it's almost the closest holiday resort to Northampton. It felt like forever to get there when I was two years old.

Today the seaside came to Northampton's market square. There's a sandy beach, a pool with boating, ice-creams, fairground rides and games. It will disappear as magically as it appeared at the end of August.

Sadly, the sunshine was missing as the 'resort' opened this morning though that didn't deter the crowds of delighted children from having fun. I remember it being chilly on Yarmouth beach too ...
