Sentimental Heirloom
I was going through my jewellery box the other day and found this locket that I had forgotten all about, hidden at the bottom. It had become very tarnished, so I hunted out my jewellery cloth and gave it a good old clean. It came up like new.
I then thought to myself that this would make a great blip as there is an amazing story behind it.
This locket was given to my grandmother in 1920 by her then toy boy boyfriend, Archie Leach, from Bristol. She was 20 and he was 16! He gave it to her before he left the UK, on board ship, for America where he was going to tour with an acting company for 2 years. He never came back, and went on to become a very famous and handsome actor, changing his name from Archie Leach to.......CARY GRANT!!!!!
Some story eh?! And hence why it holds such sentimental value to me.
