Orange
I headed down to the nature reserve for today’s lunchtime walk. It seemed fairly quiet out, but I bumped into a few butterflies: Orange-tip (main image) Speckled Wood, Peacock, Large White, Small White and Green-veined White. I also saw my first Hummingbird Hawkmoth of the year, a migrant that must have been drawn across from Europe by the fine weather.
Later, I popped down to Saltaire for my second gig of the week, a Nashville-based NZ/US duo, South for the Winter, at the Caroline Club. In fact it was their first ever gig in the UK. They were enthusiastically received, but didn’t quite do it for me. I enjoyed several of their songs, but found the voice of one of the pair a bit grating. As always though, it is good to be out at some live music, and I am lucky to have that venue on my doorstep.
