Cranage

Today, on a morning that was warm, but cooler than the past two, and after a final dog walk and photo from the garden, we left Bron Madog and drove to East Cheshire. We stopped a couple of times on the way, because we were four plus Django in the car, and daughter L wasn't feeling great. Hence it was not until almost 14:00 that we arrived in Congleton, the town where I grew up.

First stop was the funeral directors, to collect mum's ashes in a "scatter tube", and to hand over dad's ashes to be transferred into a second tube. Whilst this was being done, we had a remarkably good late brunch at a café in the old Williams and Glynn's Bank I used to visit as a child with my mother.

With the remains of my parents added to the luggage in the boot, we drove over to "De Vere Cranage Estate", a conference centre off the M6, where we will stay for two nights. It's run from Cranage Hall, a place that was the local "mental hospital" when I was a boy.

Since their restaurant was expensive and not well rated, we went into the neighbouring town of Holmes Chapel for dinner.
