The Old Parliament, Rhuddlan

WEDNESDAY

A drive over to Northrop, then over to Prestatyn and then to Rhuddlan for my hair appointment and then home for 11:15 am.

I spent the afternoon outdoors in the garden in the sunshine - temperatures were in the mid 20s ºC. Raked, cut and trimmed the lawns and weeded.

A walk around the village this evening.

The Old Parliament Building is situated on the High Street in Rhuddlan directly opposite the barber's shop. A plaque on the side of the building reads:

'This fragment is the remains of the building where Edward I held his parliament A.D. 1283, in which was passed the Statute of Rhuddlan, securing to the Principality of Wales its judicial rights and independence'.

There is no evidence to associate the building on this site with the site of the parliament of 1283 and it believed that some of the stonework was taken from the nearby castle.
