Stuff and Nonsense

Humbugs #46

I managed to persuade my husband to forego the games for a day and drive me to RSPB St Aidans. It was over 60 miles and took way longer than we expected as got stuck behind a tractor for ages.
Anyway, once there we had a lovely day and heard bitterns booming, but didn't even get a glimpse of one. The black-necked grebes were keeping themselves well hidden as well. We just had a distant sighting of a pair but they were too far for a shot.
The light was fairly harsh, but it was lovely to see this great crested grebe a little closer in carrying three of it's humbugs on its back.

Another long journey back and it's a quick blip before the end of the week game of Ave Caesar, where all 16 of us compete for the title of 'People's Champion'.  In all the 30+ years we have been playing this, I have only won once, but what a win it was ;)
