Forgot to Blip!
After reading everyone else’s Blips last I forgot to Blip my own!
I had an art day and was doing an entry for Documented Life Journey on FB. Every two weeks Blipper loulou164 gives the group a prompt, a quote
and a new way to use different media. This time it was using wax crayons with watercolour paint, the wax creating a resistance to the paint. I enjoyed trying it out and working loose.
I wrote my review for Kelvyn’s (intothehills) and put it on the Wellness Walks Website.
Walking out of the Dark
Kelvyn’s book Walking Out Of The Dark is written straight from the heart. It is a shocking account of the child abuse he suffered from a very young age and later the violent murder of his beloved Mum.
The start was hard to read as unlike a novel I knew this had actually happened.
I felt sad and shed tears for Kelvyn and his Mum, reading about the extreme cruelty of his stepfather.
However, after a harrowing start the book leads to a more positive account of how walking the hills and climbing mountains helped him out of the dark depths of his past. The descriptions of the places he found himself in are beautifully written. I found myself smiling when he wrote about wearing new bright clothes instead of being always dressed in black or grey.
The happy ending to this account of Kelvyn’s life is that he founded Wellness Walks - a charity to help others to ‘Walk out of the Dark.
For anyone who has experienced life changing trauma in their life and also those who have not - this is an inspiring book. Lizzie Birkett
Another glorious day and I pottered in the garden a bit too.
I forgot to mention the swallows are back.
I had a phone appointment with the GP for my extreme tiredness and arthritis she was very good and I have an appointment to have bloods done in 2 weeks. I could honestly go back to bed after breakfast and feel exhausted most of the time. I don’t allow it to stop me getting on with things but have to rest inbetween. I refuse to say it’s because I’m nearly 71!
Anyway it’s time for choir now. See ya later ;-) X
