May
The weather forecast was for sunshine. It was a highest on record for the first May in the end. I spent it indoors. Fortunately I'd gone out before work for a walk and, as always, took great delight from nature. Highlights were a grebe that was diving and then popping up in a different location, a surface skipping insect, fungi, blossom, a tufted duck and a back-lit willow that appeared to have been cloud pruned as the leaves were clustered at the ends of the branches. I even found delight from the snoring of a fisherman ebbing out from his bivvy
I really wanted to swim but work needed to be finished before my day off tomorrow and allocating a big enough window was just not practical. There will, I hope, be other opportunities over another long weekend
I took a look beneath and out from one of my favourite trees. Always a pleasure to spe d time there.
