Red carpet stairway to … winter …

I love the rich colours of the Japanese maple leaves on the ground, but there’s a bit of sadness too—autumn’s nearly over, and winter’s on its way. Before long, I’ll have to clean up the leaves before they turn into a soggy, slippery mess. It’s time for cozy fires, hot soups and getting used to shorter, colder days.
