New light!
As anticipated, today was back to 'normal' weather. Though it's quite depressing to hear the headlines repeated ALL day - that today was hitting all sorts of high record marks in most of the rest of the country...
The gate still has not been fixed. I know we said to our neighbour 'no rush' but that was months ago... if I had a drill I could do it myself. As we sat out in the weak sun this morning, JR had a flash of genious and suggested swapping the gate around, to hang from the other post, which is perfect. It was a short-lived flash - the latch would then be on the wrong side.
However, one of our neighbours came by and had a look at the wobbly post, and suggested those plastic tie back, zip lock things. He came back with a few, and tied the post to the steel post. Bingo! It was sturdy again. Maybe even sturdy enough to hold a heavy gate... But really, it needs a whole new post...
Andrew the electrician came in the afternoon. We wanted to change the large lamp above the dining table. For one thing, it was never in quite the correct position, and it was rather large to be in front of our big painting. (See Extra)
It looks smashing. And it's dimmable.
