Had an interesting encounter at the washing-up sinks this morning - young woman with an unusual (to my ears) American accent. A mixture of Oklahoma and Kansas she said. One of her forebears emigrated to Virginia in the 1700s from the village of Roxburgh - which is about 10 miles from where I live in the Scottish Borders. As they say, small world ..
