Black Grouse …
… mating calls are amazing, like bubbling streams, and I was so lucky to hear them this morning after a 05:30 start. However, to see the males displaying and eventually a male courting a female, so intent on his advances, that he did not notice me sneak into the forest above them. Suddenly I was face to face with him, so close that I froze, with just the camera shutter moving. He turned around to continue his dance downhill again and I retreated into the forest with a big grin. That was a “David Attenborough” moment!
A few extras because it is my 13th blip anniversary and what a present this morning was. Sometimes I wonder if I would be so enthusiastic about looking for beauty every day if I was not a member of this wonderful community. Without the people who keep the site going I think many of us would lose that essential rhythm to our days. I, for one, have never been a journal writer except when I have been on big trips when I was younger. Now I have a complete record of my retirement years and I have no intention of stopping, I would miss you all too much! Thank you always for your generosity.
