Still

The truck was parked outside Trail House. Seems a strange logo for beer (or anything), but in this town of many craft breweries I've seen stranger. You can't get much more still than this!

It's pathetic to say this, but I was somewhat cheered to see the following headline in the paper this morning:

Trump's first 100 days mired in plunging popularity, failed promises.
Chaotic governing, economic missteps, eroding confidence.

Nobody needs to know the details. We already know them, but this 1000 day wrap up is  traditional for every president. HIs approval rating is just 40%, and still falling at a time when he should be enjoying a honeymoon period with voters. Even some members of his die-hard base have figured out that he has not delivered on his promise to lower prices. It's not surprising that he blames Biden for the economic disaster he has created. His comment?

What I'm doing is exactly what I've campaigned on. I have solved more problems in the world without asking for or getting credit.

In keeping with my self imposed rule of getting rid of something in my closet whenever I get something new, I spent some time putting away my shopping spree spoils from yesterday and culling the sock drawer and the shelves. I had a complicated day, clothing-wise, which didn't accommodate being able to wear any of the things I bought yesterday. I had a Pilates class at 11, and my final sign-off visit at the orthopedist's office at 1:20 required loose clothing.

The Pilates class was enlivened by a delivery of a dozen very large boxes in front of the building. According to Sonia, one of the owners, they contain 'Pilates chairs'. I'm going to have to google those because I have no idea what they are, but according to Sherisse, our teacher and the other owner, she had scheduled a training in their use for the teachers for Friday but when it looked like they were delayed, she canceled it. Then they were delivered but during  scheduled classes inside. Somehow, they will have to figure out how to get them inside and set up by Friday when the training will happen after all.

I barely had time to go home, change clothes and  have something to eat before trekking to the orthopedic clinic which is about as far from us as one can get and still be in the same town. It was that or pick up yet another prescription, kill some time and arrive at the appointment inappropriately dressed and hungry. None of this involved my lovely sky blue sweater or pewter colored sandals....

As I suspected, it was a bit of a waste of time as I told Amelia, the medical assistant, almost exactly what I told her six months ago which was that my knee is fine but the opposite hip and back are sore as a result of a leg length difference. She did explain that, saying that when they straightened the 'valgus deformity' (knock knee) with a knee replacement it could feel uneven even if it wasn't. But, she said, if it was still causing problems after six months a heel lift was appropriate. I had a x-ray and was dismissed without seeing it. I assume it looked exactly the same as the one they did six months ago.

Now I'm going to go try a new fish recipe from the Jerusalem cookbook.
