At least the day had a happy ending
Back blip
My day started so well; I was awake at 4am and ready for my taxi into town for 5am. The National Express bus from Winchester got me to Heathrow in plenty of time to catch my plane. Unfortunately, my flight was to Madrid, and it was only when we arrived there at 3pm, I discovered we had flown into a massive power outage affecting all of Spain!
It then took 4 1/2 hours for me to reclaim my luggage, get a taxi into the city and then walk the final mile or so to our hotel in the centre of Madrid. Fortunately, Alberto, a Spanish Knight in shining armour came to my rescue and that of a young Canadian woman. He shared our taxi which couldn't go right to the city centre, and then helped us find our way to our respective hotels.
I had been able to WhatsApp Martin along the way, intermittently, but Martin and I were so relieved when we were finally reunited. His sister Sue who had come there yesterday from her home in Alicante, couldn't return home by train as planned, so ended up sleeping the night on our bedroom floor! However, before that, Martin and I enjoyed celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary with Sue over a very late meal.
See the blip photo which Sue kindly took.
The hotel had electricity from a generator but there was no Internet so I couldn't blip until later.
