Busy Day
I was up and out before the cock had drawn breath to crow this morning - 5:45am to be exact. With the weather set fair to blistering, my dip at Porty had to be early enough to get home, showered and desanded before being back in town to meet a friend en route between Perth and Kelso. She was being left to her own devices while her husband was at a meeting.
It never fails to impress me how many people, taxis, bikes and buses are abroad at that time of the morning. There was never a feeling of being the only cock- a- doodle - do mad woman out on her own walking into town.
The sea was calm and clear with my sunbeam splayed over the water at a slightly early angle. I wasn’t the only person in the water at that hour (6:40 am by the time I made to the sand), there were 2 swimmers, 2 paddle boarders and one kyaker already enjoying the morning calm. Three perfect handstands were accomplished after my swim with no one to tell me my legs weren’t completely straight.
I met Jenny on time at M&S and we had a lingering chat over coffee before making it back to Söderberg for lunch with David, now freed from his meeting in Heriot’s. Having lunched well, it was back to the Dower House for coffee and there we sat on the patio roasting quietly in the sun all afternoon, watching the body of humanity over the railings roasting less quietly on the grass of the Meadows.
It was a lovely afternoon with a lot of laughter interspersed with family news. They have gone now and the house is very quiet.
