W-I-D-E on Wednesday: "Dead/Still"

We had some of our trees, and our Laurel, severely cut back several weeks ago. The Laurel isn't dead - it's gradually recovering - but some of the dead branches which were cut off are still lying around as you can see.

And as I wandered round the garden seeking my subject for today's Widwed challenge (thanks of course to Bobsblips) a Speckled Wood Butterfly settled on the lawn and stayed still for long enough for me to grab a few shots (see the extra).
