Summer Colours Go On
Another little community scene from the front hedge of red roses, clusters of nasturtiums, set off by a ground cover of purple ajuga. The ground cover is spreading as expected, but the rose and nasturtium seeds were just plugged into the soil there and surprised me a bit. The rose was bought on sale and labelled as an antique lavender coloured Reines des Violettes. This looks more lie the common hybrid tea Mr. Lincoln. Disappointing, yet this planting has turned out fine for this season.
Hybrid teas roses do not last long here in our cold long winter climate. This accidental colour combination really gets attention from those passing by.
