Can you dig it?
Large is lovely... :)
This female Digger Bee was flitting about the black-eyed susans this morning. She was pretty fast and hard to keep up with, especially with my camera mounted to the monopod. (I'm still needing practice with that thing...) However, I was glad to have it today. I never would have gotten some of the shots I did without the support. Many times I had to place the monopod well into the thick flowers and lean over to get the shot... I'd have had a hard time holding steady, hand-held, in that position.
This is straight out of the camera. I know I usually go for the close-up to show the little creature's detail, but I really liked the flowers in this one as well. (Unable to resist a close-up... here's another shot of Miss Digger. She has the most wonderful eyes.) The Flickr shot is also SOOC other than a crop.
Most of the day was sunny or sun with clouds. I spent some time watering the garden etc. for the first time in a while. With the cooler temperatures and the rain storms we've been having I've been able to get away with less attention to the plants. But, it was due and the plants were in need... So, it stands to reason that it would rain tonight... Not predicted as far as I knew. Looks like I may be in for a wet dog walk. Why do I wait so late???
