New growth on willow

G pollarded the willow trees a few weeks ago, and new growth is sprouting vigorously. Extra: Renata sent a photo of the baby birds in the nest by the door that she took quickly because she didn't want to disturb them. Ours have fledged!
Pleased with the result of our federal election. We stayed up until nearly midnight watching and are relieved that Mark Carney continues to be our Prime Minister. A remarkable recovery by the Liberal Party. 
Sad that the New Democratic Party lost so many seats and now doesn't have official party status. Jagmeet Singh lost his seat and has resigned as the leader of the party. This was such an unusual election, and I'm sure that the NDP will recover and do better next election. Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Conservative Party, also lost his seat. It will be interesting to see how that party moves forward. 
Definitely an election for the history books, with Despicable Him to the south stating that Canada should be the 51st state and that Canadians should vote for him. NEVER!!  So unfortunate that the relationship between Canada and the US has been altered, perhaps forever, by his ridiculous behaviour and insulting comments. Thankfully we know that not all Americans agree with him!
