A local council meeting

This was my first council meeting as a politician. Our previous representatives from the Left Party had moved away from town and basically my name was next on the list, so here I am in the meeting.
It was a strange mix of boring and interesting. Virtually all the issues we were voting on were already decided in advance in group meetings. The coalition that formed the majority had decided how they would vote, likewise the various opposition parties. So we listened to all the arguments for and against each motion, and then we voted as we had decided to vote in advance. However, it was interesting to listen to the arguments and hear how parties think. And it may have been boring but it was democracy in action.
Just before the meeting the IT people were in the coffee room, solving problems for people who were not always up to speed on IT. I had to get a new app downloaded and registered so I could (digitally) request the floor, and vote. I enjoyed the day, and seeing how our town/area is governed.
