Muker
This morning I took a drive over to Muker, a little village about 6 miles away. I found it on a list of 10 prettiest villages in Yorkshire so was expecting great things ;)
It was quite nice, but judging by the places I've been to and through so far, I wouldn't have thought it would have made the top 10. I ventured into the church, St Mary's, which had some nice stained glass and an interesting door knocker. (extra)
I didn't enjoy the single track road that I came over on, known locally as 'Tops' which was very twisty and narrow with some very steep sections. After consultation with the local barmaids, I came back via an equally steep twisty road that was two lanes wide called 'Buttertubs', but this was much more comfortable.
I remembered the name from the Tour de France years ago when it started in Yorkshire - it was renamed Cote de Buttertubs :)
