Rainy Day Shower

We had thunderstorms, hailstones and really heavy showers today. Just down the road in Chester Le Street, where the cricket (the Ashes, England versus Australia), was being played, it was a lovely sunny day! What micro climates we now have in our country of changeable weather. We won the Ashes by the way :) Although, the World's media seem to think that Chester Le Street, where Durham cricket ground is situated by the river and next to Lumley Castle, is actually Durham itself. Oh Dear, I bet the Chester Le Street-onians are a mite peeved by this. Never mind, it just proves what a desolate Northern wasteland this is up here, even our unheard of places have castles; we don't even need Durham cathedral and its ancient history etc.

It is supposed to be showering meteors tonight (Perseid meteor shower from a comet) but unfortunately it is cloudy. I am not sure how to take a photo of one in any case, but will watch the blip world with interest later to see if anyone captures one.

p.s many thanks to everyone who commented on my 365 day birthday yesterday. There were some very kind words, proving what a lovely and supportive community this is. :)
