By the seaside

It was such a lovely day today that we decided we must go out somewhere. I suggested going to the coast for lunch, and S had the excellent idea of a return visit to the Beaux Arts in Bages where in September the owner had happily served us lunch at 3 pm after our vain attempts to find food elsewhere. We had vowed at the time to return for a proper meal.

I was fully occupied baking bread in the morning, so we booked a table for 1:30, allowing a bit of an explore of the village before arrival. We then had an excellent and very leisurely lunch. My main course of pollock fillets with béarnaise, rice, and an interesting combination of Puy lentils, mushrooms, onions, and ... strawberries was so copious that I couldn't finish it. But when we saw the tropézienne with strawberries and sorbet that the woman at the next table was having for dessert, we couldn't resist ordering it to share. It was delicious and "very light", as she said. Coffee was had, and it was somehow nearly four o'clock by the time we got up from the table. The idea of a walk was abandoned, although we did have a quick stroll by the shore. No birds about, but a few wind- and kite-surfers getting ready to go out as the onshore wind got up. It was a balmy 25C.

Back home to chill out, and since I have lots of lively starter to use up I have started a babka. Wish me luck!
