Dead Flat
After taking granddaughter Amelia to school, a few minutes away we stopped at The Welsh Whopper Van for me to get a bacon roll and coffee for breakfast. By 10am we were near Castle Coch, Tongwynlais, nr Cardiff (South Wales, UK) to cycle the Taff Trail to Penarth.
We enjoyed a couple of hours with my dad before cycling over Cardiff Bay Barrage into Cardiff City Centre. I spent about an hour waiting for Mrs BB to do some shopping, and she treated me to a coffee in the 26C sunshine at a street vendor outside St John's Church in the centre of town.
After about twenty minutes, with the bikes next to our table, the rear tyre of my cycle 'exploded!' and the noise turned a few heads! We walked to Evans Cycle shop at the other end of the town centre and a lovely lad called Chris put in a new inner tube, whilst Mrs BB bought some cycle clothes in the sale!
As a result we cycled a different way through the city centre through Alexandra Gardens where the Welsh National War Memorial looked amazing surrounded by purple tulips as the photo' shows.
Good to get home without further mishap. I'm just pleased I wasn't riding my cycle at the time! Many years ago I did have a rear wheel blow out on a police motorcycle seconds after I'd been doing well over 100mph on the M4. Luckily I didn't come off but decided I didn't want to ride motorcycles any more and haven't since that day.
