Semnoz
We went up Mount Semnoz today, following in the footsteps of this years Tour de France (there was still plenty of grafitti on the roads and still plenty of Froome-wanabees braving the climb.) We went up the steep winding road from Leschaux, in the South, at one point driving through the cloud layer, and stopped at the top (at the Repos de Semnoz) to walk through the beautiful alpine meadows via the Chalet de Gruffy to the Chret de Ange. We stopped at the Chalet on the way back for a well earned café crème and watched fellow walkers eating Savoyard dishes from a nice looking menu based almost entirely around cheese, ham and cream. For some reason I had the song ‘Taillights Fade’ by Buffalo Tom in my head pretty much all day…
