Portrait Of A Lady?

This painting is by Paul Moreelse (1571-1638). He was Dutch, a painter and architect. He painted in Utrecht, where he was the first Dean of The Painters’ Guilc founded in 1611.

This painting was produced in 1635 and is a very fine portrait.
It currently hangs in the dining room of Hill of Tarvit Mansionhouse.

The question mark in the title? Quite a number of our visitors, especially the Ladies, think that the subject of the painting is a man.

The two extra photos shown the exterior of Hill of Tarvit and the Food Preparation of part of the Kitchen facilities.

It is quite a few months since I last found myself answering questions about the Kitchen. Quite an enjoyable place to be.

Following the visit of the Easter Bunny the guiding hours for volunteers are now back to normal.

Lady or a man? I doubt we will ever know for sure. That said it is an exceptionally fine portrait.
